RESOLUTION


WHEREAS, Adolph "Bud" Herseth has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 91; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

WHEREAS, Adolph "Bud" Herseth was the beloved husband of Avis with whom he spent many happy decades; and

WHEREAS, Adolph "Bud" Herseth was the proud father of Stephen and Christine to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and

WHEREAS, A member ofthe Chicago Symphony Orchestra from 1948 to 2004, Adolph "Bud" Herseth spent an unprecedented 53 years as principal trumpet; and

WHEREAS, Over more than five decades, Adolph "Bud" Herseth brought lasting enjoyment to appreciative audiences and added to the Chicago Symphony Orchestra's well-deserved reputation as one of the best in the world; and

WHEREAS, Adolph "Bud" Herseth's recorded performances will continue to bring inspiration and delight to lovers of great music; and

WHEREAS, Adolph "Bud" Herseth has served as a mentor and instructor for many of the finest orchestral brass musicians around the globe; and

WHEREAS, Over the course of many decades, Adolph "Bud" Herseth touched the lives of many with his warmth and generosity; and

WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Adolph "Bud" Herseth serve as an example to all; and

WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Adolph "Bud" Herseth to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and

WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Adolph "Bud" Herseth imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this eighth day of May, 2013, do hereby commemorate Adolph "Bud" Herseth for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
