RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Members of this Chamber wish to congratulate the Hot Mix 5 on the occasion of their 35lh anniversary; and
WHEREAS, The Hot Mix 5 is a Disc Jockey team created in Chicago by radio station WBMX program director, Lee Michaels in 1981; and
WHEREAS, The founding members were Farley "Funkin" Keith (later known as Farley "Jackmaster" Funk), Mickey "Mixin" Oliver, Ralphi Rosario, Kenny "Jamming" Jason, and Scott "Smokin" Silz; and
WHEREAS, In 1984, Scott "Smokin" Silz left the group and was replaced in 1985 by Julian "Jumpin" Perez; and
WHEREAS, The Hot Mix 5 was created to act as resident DJs on Chicago FM radio station WBMX's Saturday Night Live Ain't No Jive mix show hosted by Armando Rivera; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago music scene exploded as the Hot Mix 5 show and WBMX became the Number 1 radio show in Chicago, by airing a new sound called House Music; and
WHEREAS, Soon the Hot Mix 5 Radio Show became known due to their mixes, which were recorded and sent all over America and the world; and
WHEREAS, Together, the Hot Mix 5 DJs have become legends as their mixes are still being sold today on Ebay and other venues. Many of the top DJs in the world have recognized the Hot Mix 5 as their mentors; and
WHEREAS, The City of Chicago honored the Hot Mix 5's contributions to the creation of House Music by presenting each member of the group with an honorary street sign. In addition, the City honored the group with a Hot Mix 5 Way street sign at Michigan Avenue and Balbo Drive; and
WHEREAS, One member of the Hot Mix 5, Farley Keith, grew up in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood of the 17th ward; and
WHEREAS, All of Chicago is proud of the Hot Mix 5 and their contributions to music and for helping to elevate the City of Chicago to an international level in the music world; now, therefore,
