MEMORIAL RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Ethel J. DeTolve, born on June 24, 1917, was called by God to her eternal reward on January 1, 2013, at the age of 95; and
WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of her passing by the Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman ofthe 39th Ward; and
WHEREAS, The loving wife of the late Andrew Joseph DeTolve; beloved mother of Janis and Perry (Denice) DeTolve; and cherished grandmother of Andy, Travis and Deanna, Ethel DeTolve leaves a legacy of faith, compassion, dignity and love; and
WHEREAS, Ethel DeTolve was an active and vital member of her community. She served as President of the Sauganash Parent Teachers Association, President of the Sauganash Woman's Club from 1969 until 1971, and as a Cub Scout and Brownie Leader; and
WHEREAS, Ethel DeTolve, upon the death of her husband, became President and Owner of American Offset Corporation, 1966-1983, making her the first woman to be active in the Lithography Industry; and
WHEREAS, Ethel DeTolve will be deeply missed, but the memory of her character, intelligence and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved her; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this seventeenth day of January 2013, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of Ethel J. DeTolve and extend to her family and friends our deepest sympathy; and
Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Ethel J. DeTolve.
