Title: Tribute to late Geraldine Jessie Burnett

WHEREAS, On Sunday, April 29, 2012, the Almighty God, in His infinite wisdom called to her eternal journey Geraldine Jessie Burnett; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed ofthis by 18,n Ward Alderman Lona Lane; and
WHEREAS, Geraldine Jessie Burnett was born on October 4, 1915 in Gould, Arkansas. She was the eldest child born to Robert and Velma Wright, sister to Dorothy Knighton and Prince Wright, all of whom have preceded her in death; and
WHEREAS, Geraldine was educated in Gould, Arkansas and accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at a very young age, and loved teaching Sunday school; and
WHEREAS, Geraldine got married when she was eighteen years old to Elbert "Paw-Paw" Burnett, their loving union lasted for 53 years, who also preceded her in death. From this loving union three children were born, Lavern, Barbara and Clarice, Barbara and Clarice both preceded their mother in death; and
WHEREAS, Geraldine and Elbert moved their family to Chicago during the mid 50's, as a home maker she enjoyed taking care of and supporting her family. Along with her sister she was part of various elite social clubs that contributed to community improvements and campaigning for the candidates of her choice; and
WHEREAS, Geraldine leaves to cherish her memory, son Lavern (Dorthy), grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews; and a host of other relatives, and friends; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members ofthe City Council ofthe City of Chicago, gathered here in assembly this seventeenth day of January, 2013 A.D., do hereby express our sorrow on the passing of Geraldine Jessie "Burnett and extend to her family and friends our deepest sympathy; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy ofthis resolution be prepared and presented to Geraldine Jessie Burnett's family.
