RESOULTION
Resolution Honoring the Life of 1st Ward Resident Marcelino Moreno
WHEREAS, Marcelino Moreno was born on October 30, 1954 and was a father, husband, brother, grandfather and friend to many people before he passed away on November 30, 2014; and
WHEREAS, Marcelino Moreno was born and raised in Mexico and arrived to the Wicker Park neighborhood Chicago in 1976 at the age of 21 and settled in a house with friends near Damen & Schiller; and
WHEREAS, Marcelino Moreno came from a low socio-economic background and he immigrated to this country to build a better life for his family; and
WHEREAS, Marcelino Moreno worked in various labor factories in Chicago; and
WHEREAS, Marcelino Moreno became a certified electrician and he was a handy man with a myriad of skills in construction and automobile repair; and
WHEREAS, Marcelino Moreno met Francisca Salgado through mutual friends in 1978 and they had three children: Orlando Moreno, Evelyn Perez, and Hector Moreno; and
WHEREAS, Marcelino Moreno was diagnosed with Gastric Adenocarcinoma in December 2009 and realized in 2014 that the cancer had spread throughout his body; and
WHEREAS, To his family, Marcelino Moreno was more than just a husband and a father—he was their friend and their hero who instilled in his children important values such as strong work ethic, generosity, and service to others; and therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, that the Moreno family and the 1st ward community will sorely miss Marcelino Moreno, a life-long 1st ward resident who will never be forgotten.
