RESOLUTION
 
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Cheryl D. Cesario, a widely admired member of the judiciary, has officially announced her retirement as an Associate Judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County; and
 
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this event by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Cheryl D. Cesario was appointed in 2005 to serve as an Associate Judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County and was reappointed in both 2007 and 2011; and -
 
WHEREAS, During her highly esteemed tenure on the bench, the Honorable Cheryl D. Cesario heard domestic violence cases and litigation regarding orders of protection before being ^assigned in 2007 to hear probate cases; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Cheryl D. Cesario served as an Assistant Cook County State's Attorney for twelve years where she was Supervisor of the Juvenile Division; and
 
WHEREAS, In 1995 the Honorable Cheryl D. Cesario was appointed General Counsel for the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services and ably served in that position for eight years; and
 
WHEREAS, The Honorable Cheryl D. Cesario was a valued member of the Illinois Supreme Court Committee on Professional Responsibility and for ten years moderated programs on various legal topics for the Illinois Law cable television series; and
 
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the Honorable Cheryl D. Cesario serve as an example to all; now, therefore
 
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this nineteenth day of November, 2014, do hereby congratulate the Honorable Cheryl D. Cesario on her retirement and do hereby express our gratitude for her distinguished service as a member of the bench; and
 
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Honorable Cheryl D. Cesario.
