RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Thomas E. Allen, was the Ward Superintendent for the 47 Ward from May 1969 to June 1993, and has contributed to the City and its residents in countless ways by providing the highest quality public service to the citizens of the Chicago and the citizens ofthe 47th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Thomas E. Allen proudly served his nation in the United States Navy from 1953 to 1955 including overseas during the Korean War attaining the rank of yeoman, 3rd class, as well as thereafter being a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1234 Aerowing and the American Legion, Tattler Post; and
WHEREAS, Thomas E. Allen, prior to becoming 47th Ward Superintendent, served his fellow citizens in various public offices including deputy sheriff of Cook County, investigator for the City of Chicago, appraiser for the Office of Cook County Assessor, investigator for the Illinois Secretary of State and public way inspector for the City of Chicago; and
WHEREAS, Thomas E. Allen generously gave his time to his fellow citizens in serving many special events in the 47th Ward and served his community as a director of the Ravenswood Community Council for thirteen years and an active member of ten other professional community organizations including the Ward Superintendents Association, the American Public Works Association and the Chicago Muncipal Society; and
WHEREAS, Thomas E. Allen passed away March 10, 2013, leaving behind his beloved wife of thirty years Marilyn, his beloved children and stepchildren, Patricia, Cindy, Carrie, Tammy, the late Kathy and the late Kelly, Richard, Sandra, Mariane and Robert as wells as twenty-one grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, Thomas E. Allen has served his fellows citizens, left an enduring legacy of public service, and contributed significantly and substantially to making the 47lh Ward the wonderful place it is live and raise a family today; now therefore
