MEMORIAL RESOLUTION
 
 
WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that members of this Chamber learned of the death of William G. Thorn on September 22, 2013, at the age of 67; and
 
WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of his passing by the Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and
 
WHEREAS, An active and vital member of his community, William, born on October 17, 1945, was the loving son of the late Robert and Adeline. As the beloved husband of Gail, nee Johnson; loving father of Penny (David) Suydam and Nancy (Michael) Buechner; dearest grandfather of John Suydam and Hope and Michael Buechner; dear brother-in-law of Donna Johnson; dearest brother of Robert (the late Sherry), Karolynn (Donald) Schulz, Marilynn (Richard) Alcorn, Barbara (Mark) Bryan, Patricia (Steven) Bobek and the late Donald; fond uncle of many nieces and nephews, William was an active and vital member of his community; and
 
WHEREAS, William leaves a legacy of faith, compassion, dignity and love. He will be deeply missed, but the memory of his character, intelligence and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved him; now, therefore,
 
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this sixteenth day of October 2013, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of William G. Thorn and extend to his family and friends our deepest sympathy; and
