SALUTE TO THE NORTHERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY LAW ALUMNI COUNCIL
WHEREAS, On Wednesday evening, September 17, 2014, the Northern Illinois Law Alumni Council will hold special reception honoring outstanding College of Law alumni and others at the University Club of Chicago on East Monroe Street; and
WHEREAS, The 2014 Alumnus of the Year will be awarded to Richard D. Felice (Class of 79) of the Law Offices of Richard D. Felice and President, Illinois State Bar Association. Lesley Irizarry-Hougan (Class of '04) of L.I.H. Law, PS in Seattle, Washington has been named the 2014 Young Alumna of the Year; and
WHEREAS, Chris Cosentino (Class of '00), Nina Cosentino (Class of '02), Blake Cosentino (Class of '03) of the Cosentino Law Firm have garnered the Outstanding Service Award. The Distinguished Service Award goes to Abel L. Smith III (Class of 89) who is the Assistant Chief Counsel for the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration of the U.S. Department of Transportation; and
WHEREAS, This year's Public Service Award will be presented to the Honorable James F. Holderman, United States District Court of the Northern District of Illinois; and
WHEREAS, Norden S. Gilbert, retired University Counsel of Northern Illinois University is named as an Honorary Alumnus and Romas Mockaitis ('05) of Mockaitis Law will be honored as Mentor of the Year; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Robert W. Fioretti, Alderman of the 2nd Ward and himself a Northern Illinois School of Law alumnus, has apprised this august body of this significant and noteworthy event; now therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City of Chicago City Council, assembled here this 10th day of September, 2014 AD, salute the Northern Illinois Law Alumni Council on the occasion of their awards reception and express our very best wishes for continuing success.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to the Northern Illinois Law Alumni Council.
