Thank You Jean-PauJ "JP" LaPieere

Whereas, Jean-Paul "JP" LaPieere is from Weymouth, Massachusetts and has been participating in the Chicago Marathon for 20 years; and

 

Whereas, On October 13, 2019 Jean-Paul :'JP" LaPieere was traveling to the Chicago Marathon via the CTA Blue Line, when he heard a gunman intimidating passengers in a nearby train car; and

 

Whereas, Jean-Paul did not hesitate to leap into action and tracked down the gunman who was terrorizing passengers; and

Whereas, Jean-Paul disarmed the gunman and restrained him until the Chicago Police Department arrived on the scene and placed the gunman in custody; and

Whereas, Jean-Paul is a lifelong Good Samaritan and is credited for many heroic deeds; and

Whereas, In 2015, Jean-Paul previously rescued a one year old child trapped in an automobile as a result of a horrific car crash; and

Whereas, In 2019, Jean-Paul tracked and captured an escaped seven-foot brown and yellow Burmese python and returned the snake to its owner; and

WHEREAS, John-Paul's courage is honorable and worthy of recognition by our City; now, therefore

Be It Resolved, that we, the Mayor and members of the City of Chicago City Council, assembled this fifteenth day of January, 2020 , do hereby extend our sincere gratitude to Jean-Paul LaPierre for his unwavering heroism; and

Be Jt Further Resolved, that an official copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to Jean-Paul LaPierre.
