MEMORIAL RESOLUTION FOR WALTER G. KOEGLER

WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that the members of this Chamber learned of the death of Walter G. Koegler in November at the age of 96; and

WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of Walter's passing by the Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and

WHEREAS, Walter was born on January 4th 1922 and as a young man he dutifully and proudly served in the Navy in World War II, willingly committing himself to preserving his country's freedoms; and

WHEREAS, Wally, lovingly known to by all, was the adored husband of the late Mary A. Koegler (nee Leemputte) who sadly pre-deceased him at age 89. Together they created a warm and loving family and raised them in the North Mayfair community of Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Wally leaves to cherish his memory: beloved children Thomas (Mary Ann), Timothy (Karen), Kathleen (William) Unverzagt, Kristine (Jeffery) Jozwik and Terrence; cherished grandchildren, Michael (Kelly) Koegler, Kristin (Geoff) Silverwood, Matthew (Erin) Koegler, Sarah (Carlos Jr.) Mendez, Lauren (Matthew Ihnen) Koegler, Carolyn (Salvator) Aloisio, Kathryn Koegler, Mark (Kaylee) Unverzagt, Luke (Rachel) Unverzagt, Julie Jozwik, John Jozwik and Eric Jozwik; precious great-grandchildren, Patrick, Marty, CeCe, Ruby, and Timothy Koegler, Maya and Jack Silverwood, Colton Koegler, Matthew, Emily and Elena Mendez, Gwendolyn and Samuel Aloisio, Christian, William, Brooke and Scarlett Unverzagt and Theo Unverzagt; loving uncle to many and treasured friends who had the pleasure of knowing him. Wally leaves a legacy of faith, dignity and love; and

WHEREAS, Wally exemplified a strong work ethic and deep commitment to his church and community throughout his life. He was owner and President of Illinois Insulation and Construction Company and a dedicated volunteer at St. Edward's Parish.
