A City Council Resolution Honoring the Life of Barn McDowell, Jr.

 

WHEREAS, Almighty God in His infinite wisdom and judgment has called Mr. Barn McDowell, Jr., an outstanding citizen of Chicago's 8lh Ward, to his everlasting reward a few days ago, and he recently returned to the heavenly realm on June 2, 2019; and

 

WHEREAS, Barn McDowell, Jr. was born to the late Maggie and Byrard McDowell in June 2, 1950 in Elizabethtown, North Carolina. He was educated in the Bladen County school system,

 

WHEREAS, Barn loved working and taking care of his family. For many years he worked as a Watchman for the City of Chicago, as a janitor for the Chicago Public Schools, and as a mechanical assistant with Cook County.

 

WHEREAS, Barn was very friendly and down to earth. He always carried a smile on his face and he had this way of making everyone around him feel comfortable.

 

WHEREAS, Barn was preceded in death by his siblings Annie R. Bedward, Bernice McDowell, and Charlie Lee McDowell. Barn's fond memories will forever be cherished by his six children, Byron McDowell, Shawndai McDowell, Arthur Sammie McDowell, Michael McDowell, Denise McDowell, Michelle Angela McDowell; two sisters, Deloris McDowell, and Lillie Frances Kelley; grandchildren, Olivia McDowell, Priscilla McDowell, Deasia McDowell, Keion McDowell, Michael McDowell, Jr., Jamir McDowell, Jamir McDowell, Jaylen McDowell, Mya McDowell, and Destiny McDowell. He also leaves great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

 

THEREFORE, Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members ofthe City Council of the City of Chicago, do hereby express our deep sorrow on the passing of Mr. Barn McDowell, Jr. and extend to his family our sincere condolences; and

 

Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to the family of Mr. Barn McDowell, Jr.
