Title: Gratitude extended to Dr. Charles Guengerich on dedication to City Colleges of Chicago

SALUTE TO CHARLES GUENGERICH, Ph.D.
WHEREAS, Dr. Charles Guengerich, an outstanding educator and president of Wilbur Wright College, has promoted strong ties between the institution he leads and the business community, the local schools, and non-profit organizations; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Guengerich has built and strengthened multiple and varied partnerships between Wright College and local businesses and industry as well as other institutions from high schools to universities; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Guengerich has maintained a community advisory board of 50 members, a forum that has advanced the many unique projects he has undertaken such as hosting the Chicago Humanities Festival and the Chicago Centennial Celebration of Flight, a feat made possible by the college's namesake; and
WHEREAS, Thanks to Dr. Guengerich's support, Wright College was able to open a student run cafe supplied by donated merchandise from local businesses so 100% of profits can be used for student scholarships; and
WHEREAS, Wright College has also benefited from Dr. Guengerich's many innovative academic initiatives. The City of Chicago's Entrepreneurial Workshop was first held at Wright College and now has been made a regular program of the City of Chicago and the City Colleges through his offices; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Guengerich has represented the City Colleges of Chicago on two Illinois Community College system funding taskforces. Additionally, he has served as one the tri-chairs on the Illinois Community College Board Adult Education funding task force, as well as on the autumn of 2006 Illinois Legislative Task Force. Currently, he is a Consultant Evaluator and Team Chair for the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Timothy M. Cullerton, Alderman of the 38th Ward in which Wilbur Wright College is located, has apprised this august body of this noteworthy educators praiseworthy record of academic and civic service; now therefore
