MEMORIAL RESOLUTION FOR Brian J. O'Dwyer
WHEREAS, In His infinite wisdom, Almighty God has granted eternal peace to Brian J. O'Dwyer,
outstanding citizen and member of his community; and
WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of his passing by The Honorable Derrick Curtis, Alderman ofthe 18th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Brian O'Dwyer was a devoted son to the late Therese and Christoper O'Dwyer; beloved husband of Lora nee Malinowski; proud and loving father of Kevin, Brendan, Kristen and Martin; fond bother of Denis, Michael (Mary Ann) O'Dwyer, Maureen (Jim) Scobey and PatricK (Nancy) O'Dwyer; adored uncle to many nieces and nephews; treasured friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Brian leaves a legacy of faith, dignity and love;
WHEREAS, Brian has been a St. Bede Parishioner, where his 4 children attended elementary school, and 18th Ward resident since 1985. He was a dynamic member of the St. Bede Athletic Boosters. He mentored and coached youth in basketball and baseball programs. His tireless dedication to the St. Bede sports program did not come unnoticed by the St. Bede community, recognizing Brian as a legendary Coach. He spent numerous years coaching flag football in leagues affiliated with the Chicago Park District. He was a gentle giant and well respected coach. He was also a vital member of the St. Bede Holy Name Society; and
WHEREAS, Brian was the founder as well as Player/Coach ofthe "Woodsmen" and "Assualt" 16" softball teams, winning numerous championships in the 1970's, 80's and 90's. A sports enthusiast, Brian was an avid Green Bay Packers and Notre Dame fan; and
WHEREAS, Brian touched the lives of all who knew him through his kindness, his generosity, his heart and his spirit. He will be deeply missed, but the memory of his character, intelligence and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved him, now, therefore
