MEMORIAL RESOLUTION FOR HELEN ANGELOPOULOS
WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that members of this Chamber learned of the death of Helen Angelopoulos on Friday, April 13, 2018 at the age of 88,; and
WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of her passing by The Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Born on May 29, 1929, Helen (nee Karavidas) was the beloved wife of the late Peter Angelopoulos; loving mother of Art, John (Laura), Ted, and Maria (Patrick) McDorman; cherished grandmother of Theresa (Jess), Lauren (Isaac), Katie (Tom), Lea, Eleni (Joe), Peter, Christina, Amanda and Anna; proud great-grandmother of Matthew, Scotty and one on the way; dear sister of Charles (the late Dolores), Gus, the late John, the late Marie (the late Al), the late George (Lillian) and the late William (the late Gloria); fond aunt of many and their families and treasured friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Helen Angelopoulos leaves a legacy of faith, dignity and love; and
WHEREAS, lovingly known to her family as "Yia Yia", Helen was a woman of great strength, strong will, and deep faith. She had endured much pain and illnesses throughout her life but the fighter in her never gave up. Family was her core and always there through the good times as well as the bad times. She had a terrific sense of humor and extremely quick witted; and
WHEREAS, Helen touched the lives of all who knew her through her unconditional love and vivacious spirit. She will be deeply missed, but the memory of her character, intelligence and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved her, now, therefore,
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and member of the City Council of the City of Chicago gathered here this twenty third day of May, 2018, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of Helen Angelopoulos and express to her family and friends our deepest sympathy; and
