RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The year 2018 marks Kazimierz Gajek's 60th wedding anniversary to his wife, Anna; and,
WHEREAS, Kazimierz and Anna Gajek were married on October 25, 1958, and together, they raised seven children; and,
WHEREAS, Kazimierz Gajek was born on October 8, 1933 in Lekawica near Tarnow. As a little boy, with his family, he survived the Second World War; and,
WHEREAS, Due to his refusal to join the Communist Party, Kazimierz was unable to progress at his job and started to think about going abroad. Anna persuaded him to leave the country to go to Austria; and,
WHEREAS, In 1980, after receiving political asylum, Kazimierz arrived in the United States. However, due to martial law in Poland, he had to wait eight long years for the arrival of his wife and family; and,
WHEREAS, During this time, Kazimierz worked at three different places; working full-time at a metal factory, part time at a car shop, and on weekends at a restaurant, where he managed to save and buy his own home; and,
WHEREAS, One must say that Kazimierz would not be who he is and where he is if it was not for his wife, Anna. She always supported her husband, suggested ideas and encouraged him to think about a better future for the whole family; and,
WHEREAS, Together, Kazimierz and Anna have many friends and acquaintances. They are active in parish clubs and organizations and enjoy Sunday picnics, and now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this 31st day of October 2018 A. D. do hereby offer our heartiest congratulations to Kazimierz and Anna Gajek on their 60th wedding anniversary and wish them many more happy years together; and,
