RESOLUTION HONORING THE 40TH ANNIVERSARY OF MY SISTER'S CLOSET
WHEREAS, The consignment store, My Sister's Closet, is celebrating 40 years in business this June; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this milestone by the Honorable Samantha Nugent, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and
WHEREAS, My Sister's Closet opened for business in June 1982 in a 1,000 square foot space on Devon Avenue, and was originally owned by two sisters who shared a closet while growing up in Chicago; and
WHEREAS, As one ofthe first resale stores in Chicago, My Sister's Closet quickly found its place in the consignment and resale industry; and
WHEREAS, My Sister's Closet later outgrew its orignial space and moved in to its current location in 1997; in 2013 the store expanded to over 6,000 square feet by taking over the neighboring store; and
WHEREAS, My Sister's Closet is still owned by one of the original owners, Joanne Nusbaum; and
WHEREAS, In addition to great merchandise, My Sister's Closet still prides itself in knowing and getting to know their customers, with an unofficial motto of "there are no strangers here, only friends we have not met," now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this twenty-second day of June, 2022 do hereby congratulate My Sister's Closet on 40 years in business and wish them many more years of success; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy ofthis resolution be prepared and presented to Joanne Nusbaum, owner of My Sister's Closet.
