RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Emily Banach will celebrate her 90,h birthday on May 31, 2011; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this grand occasion by Alderman Frank J. Olivo; and
WHEREAS, Emily, who is the youngest of five siblings, was born in the Chicago Back of the Yards neighborhood. She has three sisters, Ann, Marie and Hazel, and one brother, John. She worked for Brach's Candy Company and was a journeywoman for International Harvester Press, which is now known as Navistar; and
WHEREAS, Emily married her husband Ted in April of 1943. Together Emily and Ted had two children. Their son Robert and his wife Cynthia and their daughter Sharon and her husband Mark gave Emily six grandchildren, Shelly, Rebecca, Patrick and his wife Kristen, Kevin, Peter and Valerie. She has two great-grandsons, John and Patrick Jr. and a third great-grandchild due to arrive in June; and
WHEREAS, Emily has been a parishioner of St. Bede's since 1986. She has been a member of St. Bede's Woman's Guild and St. Bede's Seniors, as well as Scottsdale Seniors, Durkin Park Seniors and the Nighthawks. She has held various offices with these organizations, and has been Senior Citizen of the Year, representing Scottsdale Seniors, Durkin Park Seniors and the 18th Ward; and
WHEREAS, May Emily's zest for life and the love for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as her love ofthe Chicago Blackhawks and the Chicago White Sox, serve as inspiration to all of us; now therefore
BE AT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members ofthe Chicago City Council, gathered here this thirteenth day of April, 2011, do hereby congratulate Emily Banach on this special time of her life, and also wish Emily and her family many more years of happiness; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Emily Banach.
