RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, One hundred years ago, Romania marked the country's unification and formal establishment, also known as Great Union Day; and

WHEREAS, On December 1,1918, in the city of Alba lulia, Romania was officially declared united with Transylvania, Crisana, Banat and the Maramures; and

WHEREAS, December 1, 2018 marked the 100^th Anniversary of the founding of the modern state of Romania; and

WHEREAS, On that date, the world was changed with the Great Unification of 1918 and the proclamation of a modern, democratic and sovereign nation; and now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-third day of January, 2019, hereby officially commemorate the Centennial of the National Day of Romania, Great Union Day; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Consulate General of Romania in Chicago.
