Title: Recognition extended to Nia Chetkovich for fundraising efforts on behalf of Wrightway Animal Shelter

RECOGNITION OF NIA CHETKOVICH
 
Whereas, Nia Chetkovich is a resident of the Edgebrook community and 4 1 grade student at Edgebrook Elementary School, and;
 
Whereas, For the past two years, Nia has worked with friends and neighbors to raise funds for the Wrightway Animal Shelter, whose purpose it is to place homeless pets in loving homes, and;
 
Whereas, On October 2nd, the Wrightway Animal Shelter was severely damaged by a vehicle accident that left the shelter uninhabitable, and;
 
Whereas, Upon hearing of the accident, Nia began to craft and sell handmade bracelets, supplemented by a 'kickstarter' campaign to provide emergency funding for the shelter, raising over $1500 in a few short days; and;
 
Whereas, Nia is a bright, sensitive, and determined young woman who not only provides an example of citizenship and compassion for her peers, but also acts an inspiration to those who hear her story; and;
 
Whereas, Dane & Kristina Chetkovich, Nia's proud parents, have apprised this august body of the remarkable efforts of their daughter;
 
Be it resolved, that we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this 16th day of October, 2013, do hereby express our admiration for the unselfish actions and exceptional nature of young Nia Chetkovich, and;
 
Be it further resolved, that a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Nia Chetkovich.
