Memorial Resolution for Vivian Claudine Crawford

WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that the members of this chamber learned of the departure of Vivian Claudine Crawford on August 4, 2018; and

WHEREAS, This esteemed body has been notified of her passing by the Honorable Toni Foulkes, Alderman of the 16th Ward; and

WHEREAS, Vivian Claudine Crawford, the seventh of thirteen children, was born on July 7, 1934 in Marianna, Arkansas to the late Billy Warren Foster and the late Viola Rowell Foster. Vivian accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mount Gillian Baptist Church in Moro, Arkansas; and

WHEREAS, Vivian met and married the love of her life, Romie Lee Crawford. They were blessed with seven children, Ray, Ronald, Roy, Alvin, James, Claudette and Lolita; and

WHEREAS, Vivian worked as a Certified Nurse Assistant at Saint Anthony Hospital and Columbus Hospital for 20 years and later became a home health provider for her grandson, George Elbert Moore III; and

WHEREAS, Vivian leaves to carry on her legacy her children; Ray, Roy, Alvin (Anita), James (Robin), Lolita; 17 grandchildren; 34 great-grand children; 3 great-great-grandchildren; one very helpful RN, Melissa Crawford and host of extended loving family and treasured friends; and

WHEREAS, Vivian was a quiet, compassionate and strong woman who worked hard for her family and enjoyed helping others. She touched the lives of all who knew her selfless heart and vivacious spirit. She will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on through her loved ones; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago , gathered here this twentieth day of September, 2018, do hereby express our sorrow on the passing of Vivian Claudine Crawford and extend to her family our sincere condolences.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be prepared and presented to the family of Vivian Claudine Crawford as a token of our respect.
