RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, For thirty three years of his thirty eight years of teaching within the Chicago Public Schools, Stanley Wozniak has traveled 17.2 miles to Scammon Elementary School each morning from his home near Midway Airport; and,
WHEREAS, Stanley Wozniak's love of teaching and passion for providing quality education has insured a better life for over one thousand 5th and 6th grade students that he has mentored in rooms 205 and 105; and,
WHEREAS, Stanley Wozniak's enthusiasm for teaching has encouraged former students of his to become teachers themselves, and especially for one who is now teaching at Scammon Elementary School; and,
WHEREAS, Students of Stanley Wozniak take pleasure in learning from him, as he creates interesting and exciting lessons by inserting a variety of stories and parables into his lectures; and,
WHEREAS, Outside the walls of his classroom, Stanley Wozniak has also contributed to improving the learning environment at Scammon by overseeing the Scammon Student Council for thirty three years, and by serving on the Local School Council for twenty five years; and,
WHEREAS, Stanley Wozniak's love of music prompted him to establish a band program at Scammon that has helped put instruments in the hands of hundreds of students; and,
WHEREAS, Even the trees that shade the Henderson Street side of Scammon bear the mark of Mr. Wozniak, as he had petitioned Alderman Ariel E. Reboyras to have them planted; and,
WHEREAS, Teachers and staff members at Scammon benefited immensely from his ready smile, boundless energy, warm nature, and freely given support and encouragement. Stanley often went out of his way to cheer his colleagues and many remember him as one of the founders of the Scammon Underground Subversive Association; and,
WHEREAS, After thirty eight years of teaching, Stanley Wozniak will be retiring at the end of this school year, and he will be sorely missed by students, fellow teachers and staff members; and now therefore,
