City Council Meeting December 12, 2012
WHEREAS, Doris R. Jordan will retire after 40 years of dedicated and committed service to the to children and families of Chicago Public Schools; and
WHEREAS, Doris R. Jordan received a bachelors and masters degrees from the University of Illinois at Chicago and entered the field of education to motivate and to provide a quality education for all students to ensure their academic achievement and overall success in our global society;
WHEREAS, Doris Jordan began her career as a librarian, and grade 5 teacher at Duke Ellington Elementary School. She later became the Reading Resource Teacher, assistant principal and acting principal at Gillespie Elementary School. After attending the LAUNCH Leadership Academy, she completed her principal internship at Spry Elementary and Northside College Preparatory High School. After her internships, she assisted with the opening of two school - National Teachers Academy and New Field School where she was the assistant principal.
WHEREAS, Doris R. Jordan became the principal of Barnard Computer, Math and Science Center in 2006 and through her leadership, integrity and professionalism brought a variety of worthwhile learning experiences and programs to enhance the learning and academic achievement of the Barnard Learning Community. Through her leadership and the excellent work of teachers and staff, Barnard Computer, Math and Science Center have received numerous awards for academic improvement from Chicago Public Schools and the State Board of Education.
WHEREAS, Doris R. Jordan married her college sweetheart and later became the proud mother of Angela and Veronica and grandmother of Ronald and Roger Jackson.
BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and members of the City Council of Chicago in council meeting on December 12, 2012 that on the behalf of all the citizens of the City of Chicago we do hereby express our appreciation and heartfelt gratitude to Doris R. Jordan and her family for the dedication...
