RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Honorable Roger Claar will be officially declared the winner of the Bolingbrook mayoral election on April 25, 2017; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this event by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Roger Claar has ably served as the Mayor of Bolingbrook for 30 years and his re-election assured him a ninth term in office at the helm of the southwest suburb; and
WHEREAS, Two weeks after the election, challenger Jackie Traynere conceded the race on April 18, 2017, as mail-in and provisional ballots put Mayor Claar a 151-vote victory margin; and
WHEREAS, During his tenure in office, the population of Bolingbrook has doubled to 76,000 residents and dozens of major public works projects, including two new fire stations, were built; and
WHEREAS, Under the leadership and guidance of the Honorable Roger Claar planning was undertaken for growth, including the design of transportation systems and sewage treatment systems; and
WHEREAS, The community also built industrial parkways to attract business and saw the expansion of retail operations such as the Promenade Mall; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his esteemed tenure, the Honorable Roger Claar has upheld the finest and most noble traditions of public service; and
WHEREAS, The vision, hard work and dedication of the Honorable Roger Claar serve as an example to all; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this nineteenth day of April, 2017, do hereby congratulate the Honorable Roger Claar on his re-election as the Mayor of Bolingbrook and do hereby express our best wishes for his continued success in office; and
