RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Preston P. "Bud" Smuda has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Aldermen Edward M. Burke and James A. Balcer; and
WHEREAS, A valued member of the Bridgeport community, Preston P. "Bud" Smuda was a military veteran and the loving husband of Lorraine, nee Marsailes; and
WHEREAS, Preston P. "Bud" Smuda was the dear brother of Carol Daidone; and
WHEREAS, Preston P. "Bud" Smuda was the loving friend of Peg Griffin and family; and
WHEREAS, Preston P. "Bud" Smuda retired from the City of Chicago as Deputy Commissioner of the Department of Water, Bureau of Water Services; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his career, Preston P. "Bud" Smuda upheld the finest and most noble traditions of public service; anfd
WHEREAS, Preston P. "Bud" Smuda was a member of the Hamburg Club and a Precinct Captain for the 11th Ward Regular Democratic Organization; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Preston P. "Bud" Smuda serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Preston P. "Bud" Smuda to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, Preston P. "Bud" Smuda will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Preston P. "Bud" Smuda imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this eleventh day of December, 2013, do hereby commemorate Preston P. "Bud" Smuda for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
