RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, in His infinite wisdom, Almighty God has granted eternal peace to Leona Williams, an outstanding citizen and member of her community; and
WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of her passing by The Honorable Anthony Beale, Alderman of the 9th Ward; and
WHEREAS, a Chicago native born on November 14, 1945, Leona Williams attended school in Chicago and went on to graduate with several degrees in the fields of education, science and art; and
WHEREAS, she fell in love with George Williams and spent a lifetime in this devoted partnership as a dedicated wife and the mother-figure to many in her community; and
WHEREAS, she confessed her dedication to Christ at an early age, and truly embodied the teachings of Jesus with her selfless nature and dedication to others; and
WHEREAS, Leona enjoyed entertaining her family and friends, shopping, dining out, dancing, and traveling, and was beloved by all who knew her for her love of life and appreciation for what she had; and
WHEREAS, a woman of grace, class, and wisdom, Leona was a teacher at heart: always willing to pass on knowledge and advice to others, respected by many as a mentor and dynamic woman of many strengths; and
WHERAS, although she will be deeply missed, the memory of her character will live on in those who knew and loved her; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, that we the Mayor and members of the City of Chicago City Council, gathered together this 17th Day of June, 2015, do hereby express our sincerest sorrow upon learning of the passing of Leona Williams and extend our deepest condolence to her family and loved ones.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that suitable copies of this resolution be prepared and presented to the family of Leona Williams.
