RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Lieutenant Joseph R. Pavlik has officially announced his retirement from the Chicago Fire Department following more than three decades of public service; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Marty Quinn, Alderman of the 13th Ward, has apprised this august body of the significant milestone of this first-responder; and
WHEREAS, Joseph Pavlik began his career on August 17,1981, and served as a Paramedic Officer until October 17,1995 when he crossed over to Fire Suppression; and
WHEREAS, Joseph ably served in a number of assignments throughout his long illustrious career, including Fire Fighter Paramedic Engine 123 Tower Ladder 39, Fire Fighter Paramedic Squad Lieutenant 5th District, Lieutenant Paramedic Engine 129, Lieutenant Paramedic Tower Ladder 39; and
WHEREAS, Joseph Pavlik successfully rose through the ranks, first as a paramedic and retiring as a Lieutenant at Tower Ladder 39; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his career, Lieutenant Pavlik upheld the finest and most noble traditions of public service; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Lieutenant Pavlik has contributed to the safe, healthy and vibrant community it is today; now therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this second day of April, 2014, do hereby express our sincere gratitude to Joseph Pavlik as he retires from thirty two years of outstanding service to the people of this great city and we extend our very best wishes for his continued success and fulfillment; and
