RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Dr. Frank Yanez has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of ninety-five; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Frank Yanez was a widely admired member of the medical community and the loving husband for fifty-three years of Martha; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Frank Yanez was the much-adored father of Frank, Jr., and Dr. Martha, and the grandfather of two to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Frank Yanez was a Cuban-born physician and Hispanic medical pioneer; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Frank Yanez arrived in America in 1943 and five years later joined the staff of St. Anthony Hospital with which he was affiliated for more than five decades; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Frank Yanez ran a medical practice on 26th Street in the Little Village neighborhood for forty years, where he was a much-beloved figure to generations of patients; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Frank Yanez closed his practice in 1992 and became Director of the Family Practice Residency Program at St. Mary of Nazareth Medical Center; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Dr. Frank Yanez serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Dr. Frank Yanez imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this thirteenth day of March, 2013, do hereby commemorate Dr. Frank Yanez for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dr. Frank Yanez.
