In Commemoration of the 65th Anniversary of George's Hot Dogs
WHEREAS, this year marks the 65th anniversary of George's Hot Dogs in the Bucktown neighborhood of Chicago, having originally started serving residents ofthe neighborhood and the city in the year 1948; and
WHEREAS, in the year 1948 George's Hot Dogs was purchased by Greek entrepreneur Vasilios Kotopoulis, starting a family business that would beget a legacy of community, service, and good food; and
WHEREAS, George's Hot Dogs is owned and operated by Chicago residents George Ziamparas, his wife and daughter of original owner Mary Ziamparas, and their son Tasso Ziamparas; and
WHEREAS, George's Hot Dogs has grown along with the Bucktown neighborhood over the past 65 years. Starting as just a small hot dog stand, George's menu and business has evolved into a diverse, unique and fresh restaurant, reflecting the way Bucktown has developed into a diverse and unique part ofthe city; and
WHEREAS, as a small family-run restaurant, George's has carved out a reputation in
— -Buektown-by providing-fr-iendty-service-and-affordable-fresh-food-for-four-genepations. Also
noteworthy are the community ties and relationships that the Ziamparas family has built and maintained great neighborhood relationships with individuals, families, and groups in the area; and
WHEREAS, George's has continuously sponsored little league sports teams and community and school events in the neighborhood. As deeply engrained members of the community, George's has worked with residents, and the police and fire departments to help keep the neighborhood of Bucktown safe and clean; and
WHEREAS, George's Hot Dogs has flourished to become a staple of the neighborhood, contributing to the overall history and uniqueness of Bucktown and the City of Chicago.
