RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Officer James P. Quinn retired from the Chicago Police Department on Friday, March 15, 2013 after 36 years of dedicated service to the residents of our City; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this occasion by 19th Ward Alderman Matthew J. O'Shea; and
WHEREAS, Officer Quinn is a lifelong Chicagoan growing up in the South Shore community in Our Lady of Peace Parish and later moving to Mount Greenwood after marrying his high school sweetheart, Kitty. There, Jim and Kitty raised their two children, Brian & Kaitlin; and
WHEREAS, Jim graduated from Leo High School in 1969. On October 18, 1976, Jim was assigned star #6103, like his father before him; and
WHEREAS, Officer Quinn spent his entire distinguished career as a Chicago Police Officer assigned to the 22nd District. In that time, he received 7 Department Commendations, over 200 Honorable Mentions and numerous letters of appreciation from citizens; and
WHEREAS, Jim passed onto his children a great dedication to public service that has guided Kaitlin into a career as a Chicago Public School Teacher and Brian as a Chicago Police Officer; and
WHEREAS, With professionalism and sacrifice, Officer James P. Quinn and his brothers and sisters in the Chicago Police Department have worked tirelessly to provide us with a safe, stable community in which we can raise our families; and
WHEREAS, Officer Quinn devoted over thirty-six years of his life in service to the people of the City of Chicago and in doing so has personally ensured that the City of Chicago is the healthy and vibrant community it is today; now, therefore
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council assembled this eighth day of May, 2013, do hereby express our gratitude and heartfelt appreciation to Chicago Police Officer James P.
