CONGRATULATING MR. LARRY MORALES ON HIS RETIREMENT AND CARRER IN PUBLIC SERVICE

WHEREAS, Mr. Larry Morales, the longtime Facility Manager for the Chicago North office'of the Illinois Secretary of State, has carried out a distinguished and meaningful career in public service; and
WHEREAS, the Chicago City Council has been informed of his recent retirement by the Honorable Samantha Nugent, Alderman ofthe 39th Ward; and
WHEREAS, the Illinois Secretary of State's Office is a unit of State government that is one ofthe largest and oversees a diverse collection of responsibilities of any of its government counterparts nationwide; and
WHEREAS, the Secretary of State's facilities encounters high volumes of citizens every day, which requires the utmost professionalism, patience, and personality among its employees; and
WHEREAS, Larry embodied and demonstrated those qualities among his colleagues and the public at large; he began his terrific career in March 1973 as a public service representative at the Chicago West facility, eventually becoming a supervisor and assistant manager; and
WHEREAS, in 1980, Larry was transferred to the Chicago North facility at 5401 North Elston Avenue, where he also served as a supervisor, assistant manager and ultimately facility manager. Larry's management skills and ability to interact with people was a critically important part of the highest volume facility in the State; and
WHEREAS, throughout the span of 47 years in the Secretary of State's office, he ably served five successive administrations under the late Honorable Michael Howlett; the late Honorable Alan Dixon; the Honorable Jim Edgar; the Honorable George Ryan; and the Honorable Jesse White; and
WHEREAS, always ready to lend an assistive hand to his counterparts within Municipal, County, and State units of government, Larry was commended and honored by Secretary White and Deputy Secretary of State Thomas Benigno on his last day of service on March 31, 2021, for his dedication to ser...
