
RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, John W. Glueckert Sr. has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 82; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of Arlington Heights, John W. Glueckert Sr. was the loving husband for 59 years of Rosanna; and
WHEREAS, John W. Glueckert Sr. was the much-adored father of John Jr., Mary Cecelia and Jacqueline and the grandfather of four to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, John W. Glueckert Sr. was the dear brother of Mary Ellen; and
WHEREAS, John W. Glueckert Sr. owned and operated Glueckert Funeral Home in Arlington Heights until his retirement in 2007; and
WHEREAS, A widely admired civic leader, John W. Glueckert Sr. was a 50-year member of the Arlington Heights Lions Club where he was a Past President; and
WHEREAS, John W. Glueckert Sr. served his country in the Army Reserve from 1958 to 1964; and
WHEREAS, Since 2012 John W. Glueckert Sr. had organized annual bus trips for veterans to Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of John W. Glueckert Sr. serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared John W. Glueckert Sr. to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, John W. Glueckert Sr. imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this eighth day of November, 2017, do hereby commemorate John W. Glueckert Sr. for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
