CITY COUNCIL April 13, 2011
RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, in 1975 James M. Keating began his career with the City of Chicago for the Department of Streets and Sanitation, and
WHEREAS, on May 18, 1981, James M. Keating reported to the Chicago Police Academy as a cadet, and thus commenced a career in Law Enforcement with the Chicago Police Department, and
WHEREAS, on October 14, 1981, after completing his training, James M. Keating took the oatrf to serve and protect the citizens of Chicago, and began his probationary training on patrol in the Marquette District, and
WHEREAS, James M. Keating has worked in various units of the Chicago Police Department, and his excellent performance was duly recognized with an assignment in 1989 to a special security detail assigned to Mayor Richard M. Daley,
WHEREAS, in 1994, James M. Keating was further honored with a promotion to the rank of Sergeant, assignment to a gang crimes tactical unit, and an appointment to the position of Director of Security for the Chicago Park District, and
WHEREAS, James M. Keating has previously been recognized for his outstanding work in the performance of his duties with numerous department awards, citations, and meritorious honors, and
WHEREAS; after three decades of faithfully upholding his oath to protect and serve, James M. Keating will retire from active service with an impeccable record of leadership at the highest ranks of the Chicago Police Department, now therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Mayor and the members ofthe City Council ofthe City of Chicago gathered here this 13th Day of April in 2011, do hereby extend to James M. Keating, our sincerest appreciation for his dedication and service to the citizens of the City of Chicago, as well as our best wishes for continued success in all of his endeavors; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a suitable copy of this resolution be made available to James M. Keating.
