8V6&S. The Mayor and Members of the Chicago City Council wish to extend their congratulations to Mr. Mike Volini on the occasion of his retirement from the City of Chicago after twenty-eight years of devoted service to the people; and

WHEREAS, Marion Volini, Mike's mother, was d community activist who was President of the Edgewater Community Council before being elected as Alderman of the'48th Ward in 1978; and

WHEREAS, Mike's father, Camillo, was a well-respected lawyer in Edgewater; and

WHEREAS, Mike Volini attended Quigley North High School,.graduating in 1976. Mike, then received a Bachelor's degree in Communications from Loyola University; and

WHEREAS, Mr: Volini married his lovely wife Maureen and they had two wonderful children together, Emily and Michael-Jr.; and

WHEREAS, Mike Volini served his community as the 48th Ward Democratic Committeeman for fifteen years; and

WHEREAS, On.October 16,1989, Mr. Volini began his career with the City of Chicago as a Coordinator of Economic Development in the Department of Public Works, later named the Department of Transportation. On April 16, 1990, he became the Director of Programming for the Department, of Public Works with responsibilities which included engaging in.community outreach and monitoring relevant City and State legislation; and

WHEREAS, On October 1, 1995, Mike Volini became the Assistant Commissioner in the Department of Planning and Development and on January 1, 2000, he returned to the Department of Transportation as. Assistant Commissioner; and

WHEREAS, Throughout his'1 career Mike Volini has provided .exemp the. Aldermen and their'staff / especially in.conjunction with the 'Gity's-dn;ftuai''M'eb'0 W&grgim-.
