Title: Gratitude extended to Bea Reyna-Hickey for 25 years of public service

Resolution
WHEREAS, Bea Reyna-Hickey completed her tenure as Director of Chicago's Department of Revenue on July 1, 2011; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this fact by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Bea Reyna-Hickey's retirement concludes twenty-five years of distinguished public service with the city of Chicago; and
WHEREAS, Under the leadership and guidance of Bea Reyna-Hickey, the department's revenues rose from $1.6 billion in 2000 to $2.2 billion in 2010; and
WHEREAS, Bea Reyna-Hickey instituted numerous innovations during her eleven-year tenure with the Department of Revenue, particularly in regard to technology; and
WHEREAS, Bea Reyna-Hickey played an instrumental role in reducing errors in the vehicle ticketing process while bringing chronic offenders to justice more swiftly; and
WHEREAS, Bea Reyna-Hickey was well regarded by Chicago drivers for her implementation of a web-based payment system and a vehicle/red light ticket payment plan; and
WHEREAS, Bea Reyna-Hickey improved overall tax and fee collection by launching several city-wide and multi-agency databases; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council assembled this sixth day of July, 2011, do hereby express our gratitude to Bea Reyna-Hickey for her twenty-five years of public service and do hereby wish her well in her future endeavors; and
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Bea Reyna-Hickey.
