MEMORIAL RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that members of this Chamber learned of the death of Joyce T. Gallet, nee Distel, at the age of ninety-seven; and
WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of her passing by the Honorable Margaret Laurino, Alderman of the 39th Ward; and
WHEREAS, Joyce, born on April 2, 1916 was the beloved wife of the late Charles J.; loving mother of Rene (Marilyn), Joy (Frank) Speciale, Charles, Bryan and Mary (Ron) Stiles; dearest grandmother of Melissa (Eric) Olson, Stacie (Bruce) Furlano, Renee (Michael) Tompkins, Amy (Brad) Bowers, Danielle, Brianna and Alexa (John Arndt) Gallet; great-grandmother of eight great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter; dear sister of the late Henry (Emeline) and Alex (Anne) Distel), Amy (Joseph) Schwerdt, Carol (Peter) Gaeding and John (Mary Jane) Distel; and fond aunt and great aunt of many nieces and nephews. Joyce leaves a legacy of faith, compassion, dignity and love; and
WHEREAS, An active and vital member of her community, Joyce was a past member of St. Anne Sodality; and
WHEREAS, Joyce will be deeply missed, but the memory of her character, intelligence and compassion will live on in those who knew and loved her; now, therefore,
Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago gathered here this thirteenth day of November 2013, do hereby express our sorrow on the death of Joyce T. Gallet and express to her family and friends our deepest sympathy; and

Be It Further Resolved, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Joyce T. Gallet as a token of our honor, gratitude, and respect.
