RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Dr. Leo E. Hennessy has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 84; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Leo E. Hennessy was a widely admired educator and the loving husband for 60 years of the late Helen M. "Holly," nee Sweeney; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Leo E. Hennessy was the much-adored father of Mary Anne, Joseph, John, Thomas, Elaine, Edward and Robert, the grandfather of 27 and the great-grandfather of nine to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Leo E. Hennessy graduated from Chicago Teacher's College before earning a master's degree in education from DePaul University and a doctorate in education from Nova University; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Leo E. Hennessy worked as a teacher, basketball coach and administrator at Mendel High School, Fenger High School and Eisenhower High School; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Leo E. Hennessy later served as Deputy Superintendent of the Cook County Schools and as Assistant Superintendent of Illinois Schools; and
WHEREAS, For 20 years, Dr. Leo E. Hennessy was an Arbitrator for the Illinois Workers Compensation Commission; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Dr. Leo E. Hennessy serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Dr. Leo E. Hennessy to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Dr. Leo E. Hennessy imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-eighth day of June, 2017, do hereby commemorate Dr. Leo E. Hennessy for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
