RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, God in His Infinite Wisdom and Judgement has called to her Eternal Reward, Evette Harper-Bates; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her passing by the Honorable Carrie Austin, Alderman ofthe 34th Ward, and Chairman ofthe Committee on Budget; and
WHEREAS, On December 21, 1941 the late Robert and Idealia Jones were blessed with the birth of their daughter, Evette. She was the third of four daughters born to this union and the girls were affectionately known as the "Jones Girls"; and
WHEREAS, Evette Jones accepted Christ as her savior at a young age, and was a faithful member of Mount Joy Church, in Morgan Park, she later moved her membership to St. John M.B. Church. Evette graduated from Shoop Elementary School, Morgan Park High School and Olive Harvey College. She retired from the Chicago Public School system after many years of dedicated service to the children of our great city of Chicago. As a Truant Officer and Student Advocate, Evette applied her skills, intelligence and time; and
WHEREAS, The former Evette Jones and Eugene Harper where united in marriage and shared many years of happiness. Their marriage lasted until Our Lord called her loving husband home to his eternal reward. Evette later got another chance at sharing her love and happiness when she met Steven Bates. They were united in Holy Matrimony and shared many memorable times together with their families and friends; and
WHEREAS, To her family and many friends, Evette Harper-Bates will be sorely missed and warmly remembered for her warmth, kindness and the dedication she demonstrated towards mankind; and
WHEREAS, Beloved wife of Steve Bates, mother of Mark (Susan) Harper, Timothy (Jamila) Harper and Tracey (Harry) Jones; loving grandmother of Brad, N'Dia, Kaitlyn (Katie), Clark and Nyah; devoted step-mother of Jennifer, Stephanie, Steven Jr., Samaria, Juan and families; sister of Darlene Hill and Merle Jenkins and special aunt and friends to many, Evet...
