RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The City of Chicago and the members of City Council were recently informed of Alderman Natashia Holmes' successful completion of the Illinois Bar Exam; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Holmes earned her Bachelor's Degree in Education from Alabama State University in 1997; and

WHEREAS, she continued her academic career at Auburn University, completing a Master's Degree in Community Planning in 2000; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Holmes served in various roles as an Urban Planner for the DuPage Mayors and Managers Conference and the Illinois Department of Transportation; and

WHEREAS, she was appointed to fill the 7^th Ward Aldermanic vacancy on February 13, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Alderman Holmes completed her Juris Doctorate, as well as a certificate in Environmental and Energy Law, from Chicago-Kent in 2011; and

WHEREAS, she sat for the Illinois Bat Exam on July 29-30, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Alderman Holmes received notification on October 1, 2014 that she was granted admission to the Illinois Bar; now, therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members ofthe Chicago City Council, assembled this eighth day of October, 2014, do hereby congratulation Alderman Natashia Holmes on passing the Illinois Bar Exam; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Alderman Natashia Holmes.
