RESOLUTION

 

 

WHEREAS, Anne Swaney, an Executive Producer at ABC7 Television in Chicago, was tragically murdered on January 15, 2016, while vacationing in Central America; and

 

WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and

 

WHEREAS, A native of Platte City, Missouri, Anne Swaney graduated from Platte City High School where she was editor of the yearbook and excelled in drama and journalism; and

 

WHEREAS, Anne Swaney came to the Chicago area to attend and graduate from Northwestern University's prestigious Medill School of Journalism; and

 

WHEREAS, Known for her dedication and hard work, Anne Swaney joined ABC7 in Chicago where she became Executive Producer of Online Operations at abc.7chicago.com; and

 

WHEREAS, A horse enthusiast, Anne Swaney took solace in riding her beloved horse, Sequoia, at a stable in suburban Willow Springs; and

 

WHEREAS, Anne Swaney loved riding excursions and ventured to destinations that included Costa Rica, Scotland, Turkey, Greece, Brazil, France, Italy, Germany, Hungary and Austria; and

 

WHEREAS, Anne Swaney was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and' fondly remembered by her many relatives, friends and admirers; and

 

WHEREAS, To her mother, Georgeanne, her father, Jack, her step-mother, Ruth, her brother, David, and her sister-in-law, Lauren, Anne Swaney imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore

 

BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this tenth day of February, 2016, do hereby commemorate Anne Swaney for her grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to her family; and

 

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Anne Swaney.
