RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Honorable Ralph Regula has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 92; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Ralph Regula was an Ohio Congressman was the loving husband of Mary; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Ralph Regula served his country in the United States Navy and became a country lawyer and state legislator; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Ralph Regula represented Ohio's 16th Congressional District from 1973 to 2009; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Ralph Regula was the second-longest serving Republican in Congress and earned a reputation for his nonpartisanship; and
WHEREAS, The Honorable Ralph Regula was a champion of fuel cell development and pushed to acquire properties that make up the Cuyahoga Valley National Park; and
WHEREAS, Along with his wife, the Honorable Ralph Regula played an instrumental role in establishing the National First Ladies Library in. Canton, Ohio which has become a national historic site; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of the Honorable Ralph Regula serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his tenure in office, the Honorable Ralph Regula fulfilled the highest and most noble tradition sof public service; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, the Honorable Ralph Regula imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-sixth day of July, 2017, do hereby commemorate the Honorable Ralph Regula for his grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to his family; and
