RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Members of this Chamber wish to congratulate Charlie Moore of Morgan Park High School for being named Mr. Basketball of Illinois for 2016; and
WHEREAS, Charlie Moore is a senior at Morgan Park High School and is a 6-foot, 155-pound Guard on the school's basketball team; and
WHEREAS, The Morgan Park Mustangs basketball team, thanks in large part to the efforts of Charlie Moore, had a record of 26 and 3 and a berth in the Class 3A playoffs; and
WHEREAS, A First Team All-City honoree by the Chicago Sun-Times, Charlie Moore averaged 25.1 points, 5.6 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 2.9 steals through 29 games. Charlie Moore, who received Honorable Mention All-State recognition from the Associated Press and Chicago Tribune as a junior, was shooting 65.0 percent from the field, 41.8 percent from 3-point range and 87.5 percent from the free-throw line; and
WHEREAS, Charlie Moore led Morgan Park to Class 3A state championships as a freshman and sophomore; and
WHEREAS, Not only has Charlie Moore demonstrated his greatness on the basketball court, he has also excelled in the classroom with a 3.86 weighted GPA; and
WHEREAS, In his spare time Charlie Moore has become an accomplished artist and he has volunteered as part ofthe Mac Irvin Fire Turkey drive each ofthe past two Thanksgiving holidays in addition to mentoring younger players in the program; and
WHEREAS, Besides being named a 2016 McDonald's Ail-American Team nominee, Charlie Moore was named the High School Player ofthe Year in Illinois, joining winning luminaries from the past such as Cazzie Russell (1962); Mark Aguirre (1978); Isiah Thomas (1979); Glenn "Doc" Rivers (1980); Kevin Garnett (1995); Derrick Rose (2007) and Cliff Alexander (2014). Based on 247Sports' Composite rankings, Charlie Moore is the Number 1 basketball recruit in the State of Illinois and No. 76 in the entire Nation; and
