RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING RON MANDERSCHEID ON HIS RETIREMENT FROM NORTHWESTERN SETTLEMENT HOUSE AFTER 40 YEARS OF SERVICE
WHEREAS, In 2021, Ron Manderscheid celebrates 40 years of leading efforts to disrupt generational poverty in West Town and Chicago by providing quality educational programs and services for children and families through his work with the Northwestern Settlement House; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of this momentous occasion by the Honorable Brian Hopkins, Alderman of the 2nd Ward; and
WHEREAS, Ron Manderscheid, along with serving as the leader of the Northwestern Settlement House, has served as the President and CEO of Noble Network Charter Schools from 1999 to 2007; founded Rowe Elementary School in 2009; served as board member and treasurer of Alliance for Strong Families and Communities, board chair of United Neighborhood Centers of America, board member of Neighborhood Capital Institute, and member of Higher Learning Commission's Institutional Actions Counsel; and, •
WHEREAS, Manderscheid once said "Our work is very important, but equally or perhaps even more important, is how we do it. We create partnerships and transformational opportunities for families and children. Each day, over 2,000 people enter through our doorways for various reasons. Beyond giving out food and educating children, we respond to dozens of important life issues every day. People come for our exceptional programs, but also to share joyful news and proud moments as a community"; and,
WHEREAS, Ron Manderscheid has been essential to growing and enriching the mission and reach of Northwestern Settlement House. Ron Manderscheid and his wife personally donated over $10,000 for the 125lh anniversary. Since he took over in 1981, Northwestern Settlement House has raised over $13 million to benefit its mission of helping Chicago children and families; and therefore,
