RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Constance Zimmermann has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 81; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of her passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, Constance Zimmermann was the loving and devoted wife of the late Richard; and
WHEREAS, Constance Zimmermann was the beloved mother of Robert, Vivian and the late John to whom she imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that she possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, A proud graduate of Florida State University, Constance Zimmermann earned a bachelor's degree in political science; and
WHEREAS, Constance Zimmermann moved to Glen Ellyn in 1959 where she soon became active in the League of Women Voters and in village board meetings; and
WHEREAS, First elected President of the Glen Ellyn Village Board in 1973, Constance Zimmermann oversaw the hiring of its first professional administrator and the revision of ordinances regulating advisory boards and commissions; and
WHEREAS, Elected to the DuPage County Board in 1984, Constance Zimmermann played a leading role in creating a Community Development Commission; and
WHEREAS, An individual of great integrity and generosity, Constance Zimmermann supported many worthy causes; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Constance Zimmermann serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, Her love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Constance Zimmermann to her family members, friends and all who knew her, and enabled her to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, To her beloved family, Constance Zimmermann imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this eleventh day of September, 2013, do hereby commemorate Constance Zimmermann for her grace-filled life and do hereby express our condolences to her family; and
