RESOLUTION EXTENDING CONGRATULATIONS TO JAMES AKINS

WHEREAS, James Akins, dedicated security guard at BMO Harris Bank at 6400 S Pulaski for ten years; and

WHEREAS, The City Council has been informed of his heroic actions during an armed robbery at BMO Harris Bank on June 5, 2017 by the Honorable Marty Quinn, Alderman of the 13^th Ward; and

WHEREAS, James observed the transaction and moved closer to the offender, observed suspicious activity and determined that the offender was robbing the bank; and

WHEREAS, At this time, he grabbed the offender and wrestled him to the ground and restrained him until Chicago Police Officers responded; and

WHEREAS, James is married to his lovely wife Jessie and together they raised ten children and enjoy their forty-six grandchildren; now, therefore,

Be It Resolved, That we, the Mayor, and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, gathered here this eleventh day of October, 2017, do hereby extend our heartiest congratulations to James Akins on his heroic actions;
