RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Chicago is proud of its status as a city of immigrants, welcoming those who bring diversity and vitality to a great city; and
WHEREAS, Chicago is proud of the quality and the variety of cuisines that tempt the palates of the knowledgeable and the inquisitive; and
WHEREAS, Georges 'Kiki" Cuisance, came to Chicago 50 years ago, bringing with him extensive knowledge and love of the cuisine and wines of his native France; and
WHEREAS, Kiki began his local culinary career as a sommelier at Maxim's de Paris;
and
WHEREAS, in 1969 Kiki founded Le Bordeaux, bringing French cuisine and a continental ambience to the corner of State and Madison; and
WHEREAS, in 1990 Kiki moved to the River North area, opening Kiki's Bistro and earning a fabled reputation among Chicago's fine dining establishments; and
WHEREAS, now an icon in Chicago's culinary pantheon, Kiki celebrated his birthday on March 16, 2015, at the Bistro with special company, a special menu, wine and music; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has been advised of the foregoing by the Honorable Walter Burnett Jr., Alderman of the 27th Ward; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED that we, the Mayor and members of the City Council of the City of Chicago, assembled this 18th day of March, 2015, do hereby congratulate Georges "Kiki" Cuisance for 25 years of success at Kiki's Bistro; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that we wish Kiki a belated Happy Birthday and continued success in all his undertakings; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that suitable copies of this Resolution be presented to Georges "Kiki" Cuisance as a token of our esteem and good wishes. /
