RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Robert Beavers, Jr., has been called to eternal life by the wisdom of God at the age of 71; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of his passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Oak Brook, Robert Beavers, Jr., was a widely admired member of the business community and the loving husband of Josephine; and
WHEREAS, Robert Beavers, Jr., was the much-adored father of Robert III, Brandon, Dionne and Monica, and the grandfather of six to whom he imparted many of the fine and noble qualities that he possessed in abundance; and
WHEREAS, Robert Beavers, Jr., was the dear brother of Diane; and
WHEREAS, The son of a physician, Robert Beavers, Jr., was raised in Washington, D.C., and began his career with McDonalds Corporation where he was tapped by founder Ray Kroc to recruit more minority franchise owners; and
WHEREAS, Robert Beavers, Jr., the first African-American to serve as a member of the Board of Directors of McDonalds Corporation, was named Senior Vice President and helped to open more than 150 franchises in the Northeast; and
WHEREAS, Robert Beavers, Jr., retired from McDonalds in 2000 and became a supplier to restaurants of products such as packaging, bakery goods and croutons; and
WHEREAS, An engaged civic leader, Robert Beavers, Jr., was a mentor and a dear friend to many; and
WHEREAS, Robert Beavers, Jr., served on the board of the Ronald McDonald House, Loyola University of Chicago and Loyola's Board of Regents; and
WHEREAS, The hard work, sacrifice and dedication of Robert Beavers, Jr., serve as an example to all; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Robert Beavers, Jr., to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, Robert Beavers, Jr., was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, ...
