MEMORIAL RESOLUTION FOR RUTHIE LEGROS
WHEREAS, God in his Infinite Wisdom has called Ruthie Legros, most beloved citizen, to her eternal reward on March 25, 2019; and
WHEREAS, This august body has been informed of her passing by the Honorable Sophia King, Alderman of the 4th Ward; and
WHEREAS, The adored daughter of the late Ruth and the late Eugune, she was the eldest of seven siblings. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, dignity and love; and
WHEREAS, Ruthie attended Dunbar High School, where she majored in sewing. Her love for sewing only grew from here, and she developed into a talented seamstress, making countless wedding and prom dresses; and
WHEREAS, After completing high school, she married her high school sweetheart, Samuel Davies, Sr. They would move to Germany, where Samuel was stationed in the United States Army, and gave birth to their first daughter, Pamela Davies; and
WHEREAS, In addition to Ruthie's well known sewing skills, she was well known for her love'of travel, and at one point, she worked as a travel agent, working to help others share their love for travel. She traveled extensively throughout the Caribbean, where she fell in love with Jamaica and their culture of dance; and
WHEREAS, Ruthie would later go on to serve as the Board President of Cambridge Manor, serving for three years until her death. During her time as president, she spent countless hours planning events for residents, sharing her love for live performance and dance with many of the building's residents she cared so much about. She was a staple at Cambridge Manor, and will forever be remembered by her fellow residents and support staff; and
WHEREAS, Ruthie Legros leaves to cherish in her memory: her children, Pamela Davies, Samuel Davies, Jr., and Karem Davies who was her mother's constant companion and helper. She also leaves her grandchildren, Ebony, Zion, Aisha, and Devonte to mourn her loss, her sisters, Loretta Flanagan and Reverend Rochelle Michael, her brothers, Danny a...
