RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Maura Connors, a native of the Beverly neighborhood of Chicago, was crowned Queen of the 2017 Chicago St. Patrick's Day Parade; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Connors was awarded the honor on February 12 at the Journeymen Plumbers Local Union Hall 130 at 1340 West Washington Boulevard; and
WHEREAS, Over 50 young women of Irish ancestry competed to be the 2017 St. Patrick's Day Parade Queen; and
WHEREAS, Maura Connors' Court consists of Madeline Mitchell, Mary Claire Reidy, Catherine Coghlan and Theresa McDermott; and
WHEREAS, The 62nd annual downtown St. Patrick's Day Parade will take place at noon on March 11 along Columbus Drive; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Connors and her Court will represent the Chicago Irish community at the Parade. The Queen and her Court will also attend civic, neighborhood, parish and other Irish events throughout the year on behalf of the Parade Committee; and
WHEREAS, Maura Connors graduated from Barnabas Elementary School in the Beverly neighborhood and then St. Ignatius College Prep at 1076 West Roosevelt Road; and
WHEREAS, Currently Ms. Connors is employed as an admissions counselor at The University of Chicago, where she received her undergraduate degree; and
WHEREAS, The Connors' are long-time residents of the Beverly neighborhood and proud of their Irish heritage; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Connors' mother, Caroline, is the executive director of the Morgan Park Beverly Hills Business Association. Her father, John, is employed by the Chicago Fire Department. Maura Connors also has two younger siblings; and
WHEREAS, All of Chicago is proud of Maura Connors and wish her well during her yearÂlong reign as Queen. We know she will represent Chicago's large, proud Irish community with honor and distinction; now, therefore,
