RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Marine Corporal Daniel E. Baker lost his life along with four other crew members during a tragic aerial refueling accident off Japan's southern coast on December 6, 2018; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago City Council has been informed of their passing by Alderman Edward M. Burke; and
WHEREAS, A resident of downstate Tremont, Marine Corporal Daniel E. Baker was the devoted son of Duane and Elizabeth; and
WHEREAS, Marine Corporal Daniel E. Baker was the dear brother of Adelle and the beloved grandson of Herman and Eva Baker and Dr. Daniel and Joanne Baer; and
WHEREAS, Marine Corporal Daniel E. Baker graduated from Tremont High School where he excelled as a member of both the soccer club and robotics team and participated in a church youth group; and
WHEREAS, Marine Corporal Daniel E. Baker joined the United States Marine Corps in 2016; and
WHEREAS, Marine Corporal Daniel E. Baker was based at Iwakuni air station and was aboard a KC-130J aerial refueling tanker when it collided with a fighter jet; and
WHEREAS, Marine Corporal Daniel E. Baker will be remembered as an adventurous individual who encouraged others through his bright spirit and dedication to hard work; and
WHEREAS, His love of life and ability to live it to the fullest endeared Marine Corporal Daniel E. Baker to his family members, friends and all who knew him, and enabled him to enrich their lives in ways they will never forget; and
WHEREAS, Marine Corporal Daniel E. Baker was an individual of great integrity and accomplishment who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his many relatives, friends and admirers; and
WHEREAS, To his beloved family, Marine Corporal Daniel E. Baker imparts a legacy of faithfulness, service and dignity; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the Mayor and the members of the Chicago City Council, assembled this twenty-third day of January, 2019, do hereby commemorate Marine Corporal Daniel E. Baker for his grace-filled life and do hereby express...
